David Shippee has more than 25 years of health care management experience and is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Services in New York’s Capital Region. Mr. Shippee came back to the Capital Region in 2011 after spending 20 years as the CEO of Chase Brexton Health Services in Maryland. Chase Brexton is Maryland’s largest federally qualified health center organization and one of the largest community-based providers of care to HIV-infected persons in the U.S. Prior to his work in Maryland, Mr. Shippee was Administrative Director of the AIDS Treatment Center at Albany Medical Center. He has also served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the past 20 years.
While in Maryland, Mr. Shippee served on the board of a 200,000 member Medicaid managed care organization and for the last five years of that time served as the board chair. He also served as the board chair for the non-profit, Community Health Integrated Partnership, a statewide community health center owned network focused on practice management and IT solutions for community health centers. He is currently on the board of CHCANYS, the Health Center Network of NY, HIXNY and the Healthy Capital District Initiative as well as the Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center.
Mr. Shippee received his Bachelor’s of Arts from Binghamton University and his MBA in health systems administration from Union Graduate College. He is also a 1997 graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee Leadership program.
